NDRF rescues family stuck in Gandipet flashflood

A flashflood hit Gandipet after 12 gates from Vikarabad, Tandur, Parigi, Chevella, Shankarpalli were lifted after heavy rains.

HYDERABAD: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued a family stuck in a flash flood in Gandipet on Wednesday. The family was brought back to safety after a rescue operation of five hours.

A flashflood hit Gandipet after 12 gates from Vikarabad, Tandur, Parigi, Chevella, Shankarpalli were lifted after heavy rains.

Sunil, along with wife Lakshmi, mother Bharti and daughter Akshara, worked as a labourer and stayed near the Gandipet reservoir and were stuck in the flashfloods.

Narsingi police alerted the NDRF as soon as they were informed about the family.

The NDRF team reached them with the help of a boat and conducted a rescue operation. The team expressed happiness after rescuing all the family members unhurt.

Municipal officials, Revenue officials, Narsingi officials and RDO Chandrakala, who worked in the operation, said it was a happy moment to get the family to safety after working for five hours.
