HYDERABAD: Trains came to a halt between Secunderabad and Guntur on Friday and when reports last came in (up to 8.45 pm), it was over three hours since the traffic stopped.

According to alarm raised by passengers to media through WhatsApp groups, the Secunderabad-bound Palnasu Express from Guntur was stopped at Valigonda railway station. The passengers were perennially hoping that the train would start any time. However, railway authorities did not provide any information on why the train halted.

All trains in this route from both directions too were stopped.

To douse the rage of the passengers, some railway officials tried to pacify them by saying that the train had to be stopped owing to track repairs that were needed to be attended to essentially.

The passengers were loitering on the station without any clue as to when the train would start.

A lot of them were suffering due to any lack of food, drinking water and other refreshments on the platform, as the station was too small to handle the crowd. The trains en route Guntur and Secunderabad were reportedly stopped on the tracks at different places.

The passengers requested media to enquire and let them know the reasons.
