HYDERABAD: People will vote for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the Munugode by-elections, just as they did in Huzurnagar and Nagarjunasagar, said TRS working president K T Rama Rao on Thursday.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan after welcoming Bhikshamaiah Goud into the TRS fold, KT Rama Rao said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was addicted to a toxic culture.

"The BJP has attempted to sway the public with the use of money, but the TRS party, on the other hand, has confronted the fluorosis and drinking water challenges head-on with Mission Bhagiratha and irrigation projects besides implementing social welfare programmes. We will move forward with the same resolve," asserted KTR.

Terming the electioneering of the BJP unethical, he exuded confidence that the people would support the TRS in the Munugode by-elections just as they did in Huzurnagar and Nagarjunasagar. KTR urged Munugode voters to vote wisely in this by-election, which, he said, would determine Telangana's future.

The TRS working president said, "The Prime Minister and his BJP, who are to blame for high unemployment rate in India, world's highest gas prices and the lowest position on the global hunger index, should be taught a lesson."

He also took on Kishan Reddy, whom he called a 'helpless minister in the Union cabinet, and said that he had no right to criticise Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. "Simply insulting KCR will not get you votes," he said.

KTR further asserted that fluorosis was no longer a problem, thanks to the Telangana government's efforts. "According to the Centre, no villages are affected by fluorosis. NITI Aayog gave Rajagopal Reddy Rs 18,000 crores to fund Mission Bhagiratha, but not even Rs 18 to address the fluorosis problem," KTR remarked.

"Rajagopal Reddy should explain how such large contracts were obtained by a small company. People should be made aware of the Gujarati secret hidden within this. It is debatable whether the Komatireddy brothers engage in covert politics. It is quite evident that the BJP and the Congress work together, "said KTR.

Mocking Kishan Reddy, he said that Kaleshwaram project, constructed as the brainchild of KCR, was the largest in the world but all that the BJP Union Minister brought from the Centre were four lifts (elevators) for the Sitaphalmandi railway station.

"Kishan Reddy lacks the intelligence to even read a written script. If the BJP has the guts, it should explain to the people what it has achieved from the Centre for Telangana before asking for votes," the IT minister challenged.
