HYDERABAD: Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, (in pic, left) and Devender Singh, Superintendent of Police (NC), Intelligence Cell, Hyderabad, got President's Police Medal (PPM) for distinguished services. Twelve other police personnel from Telangana were selected for the Indian Police Medal (IPM) for this year, as announced by the Central government on the eve of the Independence Day celebrations.

The 12 police officers, who bagged the medal, are AR Srinivas, Joint Commissioner of Police, Detective Department; Paleru Satyanarayana, Additional Superintendent of Police, Crime Investigation Department (CID); Pailla Srinivas, ASP, SIB; Sayini Srinivasa Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Zone; Surada Venkata Ramana Moorthy, DSP, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB); Cheruku Vasudeva Reddy, DSP, ISW; Gangishetty Guru Raghavendra, DSP, TS Police Academy; Chippa Rajamouli, Sub-Inspector, Ramagundam; Katragadda Srinivasu, ASI, Rachakonda Special Branch; Jangannagari Neelam Reddy, Assistant Reserve Sub-Inspector, Kamareddy; Salendra Sudhakar, ARSI, Telangana State Special Police Mamnoor fourth battalion and Undinti Srinivas, head constable, Karimnagar Intelligence DSP office.

In neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, a total of six police personnel including its Director General of Police KV Rajendranath Reddy (in pic, right), bagged the President's and Indian Police Medal.

Rajendranath Reddy and other awardees will receive their medals from Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy at the Independence Day celebrations to be held at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada on Monday (August 15).

Rajendranath Reddy, the current head of the AP police and belonging to the 1992 batch of IPS officers, was selected for the Indian Police Medal for the year 2020. He had earlier discharged duties as Vijayawada Commissioner of Police, Director General of Intelligence and Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement, to name a few from among several stints.
