HYDERABAD: Thanks to South Central Railways (SCR), the Secunderabad-Pune Shatabdi Express now has a Vistadome coach for the first time. The Vistadome coach, which made its first premiere on the Secunderabad-Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express on August 10, was well received by passengers. It recorded an average occupancy rate of 63 per cent within a few days of its debut.

The popularity of the Shatabdi train has increased with the addition of Vistadome coaches to its fleet of Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. With its glass top and wide window panel view, passengers can enjoy beautiful scenery as it travels through the breathtaking and amazing vista of the Ananthagiri Hills along the Vikarabad-Wadi segment. The Ujni backwaters and dam near Bhigwan, which are home to a variety of migratory and resident birds, are also visible to travellers along the route.

In addition to having a glass roof, Vistadome coaches also offer broad windows, LED lighting, rotatable and pushback chairs, electrically operated automatic sliding compartment doors, wide side sliding doors, and other amenities. Last but not the least, these coaches give their passengers a 360-degree panorama. These coaches include an observation lounge in addition to swivelling chairs.
