HYDERABAD: Telangana Education Minister Sabita Indira Reddy ordered on Friday that the recognition of BSD DAV School in Banjara Hills be indefinitely suspended following the alleged sexual assault on an LKG girl student.

Sabita Indra Reddy directed the District Education Officer (DEO) to advise the parents of the students currently enrolled in the school to make necessary adjustments in neighbouring schools in order to save their academic year.

The minister stated that it was entirely the responsibility of the district education department officer to clear the doubts of the parents of the students in this regard. The minister has announced that a committee led by the Education Secretary would be formed to advise the government on safeguards to be implemented to prevent such incidents in future.

According to the Minister, this committee will include the director of the school education department, the secretary of the women's and child welfare department and the DIG-level officers who oversee women's safety in the police department. She stated that the committee's report would be submitted within a week.

Based on the report, special precautions will be taken to ensure the students' safety. The Minister stated that steps should be taken to avoid such incidents, such as obtaining a guarantee from the respective school owners.
