Sharmila prays at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya, to take reins of AP Congress on Sunday

KADAPA: APCC president designate YS Sharmila prayed at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya on Saturday. She offered the Congress scarf at her father’s grave and prayed for a while.

She was accompanied by senior Congress leaders KVP Ramachandra Rao, Raghuveera Reddy, Sailajanath, and Tulasi Reddy. Former Minister Ahmadullah joined the Congress in the presence of Sharmila at Idupulapaya.

“Tomorrow I will take oath as APCC chief in Vijayawada. I came to seek the blessings of my father. I have joined the Congress only to fulfill the wishes of my father,” she said.

She said that her father loved the Congress party and the principles it stood for. YSR would go any distance for the party principles she pointed out. “Today the difference between secularism and feudalism is disappearing and there is no respect for the constitution. We have to bring back these values,” she said adding that she waited for good days for the country.

She reiterated that she would fight for the restoration of all good values that YSR had taught and said that she would ensure that Rahul Gandhi became Prime Minister of India.
