NEW DELHI: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that the Center has received a proposal to shift Andhra Pradesh High Court from Amaravati to Kurnool and made clear that the State Government should decide after consultation with the High Court regarding the shift to Kurnool.

He said that the State Government would bear all the administrative expenses of the High Court and asked that the State and the High Court should come to a decision on shifting the court to Kurnool and send the proposals to the Centre.

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju answered the question asked by YSRCP MPs Kotagiri Sridhar and Chinta Anuradha on the relocation of the High Court to Kurnool. With the Center giving clarity on the relocation of the High Court, there is a possibility that the AP government would commence discussions with the High Court. But it is suggested to send the proposals after consultation with the High Court.

However, after the bifurcation of the state, the High Court was shifted from Hyderabad to Amaravati under the TDP government and a building was built here and the High Court was established. Later, Jagan's government took a decision on three capitals, and in the process, Kurnool was decided as the judicial capital.
