HYDERABAD: As the Telangana State is likely to witness heavy rains over the next seven days, as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao asked the District Collectors to be on high alert. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar asked the Collectors and public representatives to be available on the field and ensure that there was no loss of human life.
He also asked the Collectors to identify the flood-prone areas and prepare relief camps to shelter the people of these areas.
He directed the Collectors to work in close coordination with all the emergency operation departments and take preventive measures to ensure no untoward incident takes place.
The IMD projected heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next seven days. The State is likely to witness flash floods with breaches in reservoirs. Roads and causeways are also likely to be submerged.
Starting from July 23, different areas of the State – Mancheriyal, Jagityal, Warangal, Suryapet, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Asifabad, Adilabad, Medchal, Nirmal etc., are likely to witness very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Parts of Hyderabad are also expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next seven days.
