HYDERABAD: For the first time this monsoon, India Meteorological Department of Hyderabad has given a Red Alert on Saturday for the State with heavy and extremely heavy rainfall predicted for the next three days.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said that people should be alert and said that people should not go out except for an emergency.

GHMC asked people to contact their toll-free helpline number 040-21111111 established at the GHMC head office.


Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank, Asif Nagar, Khairatabad, Ramantpur, Malakpet and Sitafalmandi areas would experience water logging on roads.

Power cuts and drainage overflow was also expected in many areas.

The highest rainfall, of around 7.1 cm, is expected in Uppal and Ramanthapur, followed by 5.4 cm in Madhapur, 5.1 cm in Dabir Pura. You can find the list of areas and predicted rainfall below:
