Woman slips into sea, chopper pressed into search operation

VISAKHAPATNAM: Authorities have launched an extensive search operation after a woman went missing at the famous RK Beach here on Monday night.
According to the local police, the woman, identified as N Sai Priya, came to the beach along with her husband Srinivas. The two spent some time there before preparing to leave the place at 7:30 pm. Srinivas told the police that around this time, Sai Priya went back to the shore to wash her feet only to go missing since then.
Srinivas claimed that he did not observe what was happening then and only when he turned to his back after a while, he realised that Sai Priya was not to be found. Suspecting that the woman might have been washed away by the waves of the sea, an extensive search was launched to trace her.
A naval helicopter, pressed into service for this purpose, made several sorties into the sea near the beach on Tuesday morning in the hope of finding Sai Priya.
On the other hand, suspicions are also being aired on the manner in which the married woman went untraceable under the most unexpected circumstances at this popular holiday spot.
The police, who are investigating the case, said they would divulge all the information pertaining to the case only after a detailed probe.
