HYDERABAD: A carnival-like atmosphere preceded the 2K, 5K Run, organised at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road in Hyderabad in the early morning hours of Monday to mark the forthcoming International Women’s Day. Close to 5,000 women, mostly students from various city colleges, besides Telangana Government and police officials had the opportunity to let their hair down to indulge in some aerobics and also groove to some exhilarating DJ music on this occasion.

While the girl students were at their usual best, dancing their hearts out to popular Hindi and Telugu numbers, even the dignitaries too showed that they were no novices and could not be left far behind. Chief guest of the event Santhi Kumari, Telangana Chief Secretary, led the VIPs including DGP Anjani Kumar, Hyderabad CP CV Anand and others, in joining the aerobics and showing their sportive side.

While Santhi Kumari, Anjani Kumar and CV Anand managed the sync with others with gentle steps, other officials like Shikha Goel were seen enjoying the song and dance in full flow. The Run, organised with the theme of ‘Embracing Equity’, was aimed at highlighting women empowerment across the spectrum. SHE Teams were chosen for special appreciation on this occasion to recognise their services in ensuring women safety across the state.
