Anjani Kumar assumes charge as DGP, says he would take policing to door step of common man

HYDERABNewly-appointed DGP of the Telangana state Anjani Kumar, who assumed charge on Saturday, said that he was overwhelmed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao reposing confidence in him and appointing him as state DGP. He said he was lucky to work in an ecosystem of the state where the government in general and KCR, in particular, was giving top priority to safety and security of the people.

Speaking on the occasion of the retirement of incumbent DGP Mahender Reddy, the top cop said that he would take forward the initiatives brought in by Mahender Reddy as a DGP. He highlighted the salient reforms such as the use of technology to the core in taking policing to every doorstep, empowering citizens, and making citizens realise the fundamental right to demand safety and security with dignity and self-respect, and Uniform Systemic Response. Anjani Kumar said he was privileged to have worked under Mahender Reddy as Addl CP law & order, and as ADG Law & Order for the state, as also the Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police.

After taking charge as DGP of Telangana State, Anjani Kumar called on Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on a at Pragati Bhavan and thanked him for giving him an opportunity as the DGP. The Chief Minister congratulated DGP Anjani Kumar on this occasion.
