AP CID serves notice to Lokesh in New Delhi, summons to appear on October 4 in IRR case

NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) officers handed over a notice to TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh under 41-A CrPC summoning him for questioning in connection with the Amaravati Inner Ring Road Alignment scam case at the CID office on October 4 by 10 am.

The CID handed over the notice to Lokesh at 50 Ashoka Road in New Delhi, the residence of TDP MP Galla Jayadev. “We have handed over the notice to Nara Lokesh and he said that he would attend the CID office in Vijayawada at the said place and time,” an officer said after coming out of the MP’s residence.

The three AP CID officers who have reached the national capital where Lokesh was camping, but waited till they received permission to enter the residence of the Member of Parliament.

Inside the residence of Galla Jayadev, Lokesh receivedthe three CID officers and said that he had already received the 41-A notice through WhatsApp. “Why you have come again. I have already received the notice,” Lokesh said. The officers answered that they came to New Delhi in the morning to serve notices and they had to give it in person.

“You want to have coffee or tea, you don’t come too often anyway,” Lokesh said and the officers said they don’t want to. Lokesh did sign the notice immediately but said he would like to read it first. “Why have you cut and paste the notice, you need not mention that I will not commit any offense in the future,” Lokesh said. The e officers said that they have to follow certain proforma and it’s the same for everyone.

Nara Lokesh was accused number 14 in the IRR case. While the CID added his name to the FIR through a petition in the High Court, summoning him for questioning became imminent as the High Court refused to grant him relief in the shape of anticipatory bail.
