HMDA starts restoration of Osmania University historical step wells

The HMDA, in association with charitable organizations and Osmania University students started the restoration works of the historical step wells on the university campus

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), in association with organizations like Rainwater Project, Lions Club, Pink Circle, Green Team (Wanaparthy) and Osmania University students on Monday started the restoration works of the historical step wells on the university campus. The works were carried out under the auspices of MAUD Special Chief Secretary and Metropolitan Commissioner Aravind Kumar on the direction of Municipal and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao.

It is learnt that the HMDA authorities who had completed the restoration works of Bansilalpet step well were studying the ancient structures in Osmania University. University Vice-Chancellor Ravinder, Rainwater Project founder Kalpana Ramesh, HMDA officials Dr B Prabhakar IFS, SK Meera (OSD, HUMTA), and Engineering Officers met on several occasions and chalked out a strategy to start the restoration works of step wells.

Meanwhile, upon the orders of the HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner, volunteers of Osmania University, HMDA and various charitable organizations, started the restoration work of the ancient wells, which is 200 years old wherein the volunteers from Rainwater Project, Lions Club District 320(B), Pink Circle, Green Team (Wanaparthy), Civil Engineering Students, Archeology Students of Osmania University participated on Monday.
