HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand on Saturday said that the elders of the Muslim community have taken a historic decision by rescheduling the Milad juloos from September 28, 2023 to October 1, 2023 as it will be clashing with the Ganesh Visarjan procession slated for the same day.

CV Anand held a meeting with the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee Hyderabad and elders of the Muslim community at the South Zone DCP office and discussed the arrangements for the Milad juloos.

Speaking to media, CV Anand said that after a series of discussions over the last few days, Muslim religious leaders had agreed to reschedule the Milad juloos to October 1. The organisers of the Ganesh pandals also welcomed the decision taken by the Muslim community.

“This is a shining example of the Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb (culture) of our city and State and the harmony with which people are coexisting. This automatically leads to more development and growth. I appeal to all involved to exercise the utmost restraint in their celebrations and respect the sensitivities of each other to protect the greatness of this city,” CV Anand said.

The CP said that the police were conducting night patrolling effectively in the city to maintain law and order. “Apart from providing security at the Ganesh pandals, security is also beefed up near the pandals for immersion and route maps are readied. Arrangements have been completed at the Tankbund and other ponds spread across the city. The State Government is taking steps to ensure that the festivities conclude in a peaceful atmosphere in coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and various government departments,” CV Anand said.
