The team of orthopedists and physiotherapists began to make the former Chief Minister to walk

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi supremo K Chandrashekar Rao, who underwent a total hip replacement surgery on Friday evening, began to practice walking on Saturday afternoon.

The team of orthopedists and physiotherapists began to make the former Chief Minister to walk.

KCR should have taken the oath as the Leader of the Opposition in Telangana Assembly on Saturday, following his election to the position by the BRS legislature party.

KCR had fractured his left hip on Thursday night. He was immediately rushed to Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda. Later, the team of doctors diagnosed him with fracture of left hip. He was operated upon for replacement on Friday evening

The team of doctors treating KCR termed him as a physically and mentally strong person who could be discharged within two to three days. However, they said that the former CM would need six to eight weeks of bed rest to fully recover from the surgery.

They pointed out that KCR started recovering immediately after the hip replacement surgery as he was highly motivated and strong. The team of Doctors said that mobilisation started only after assessing the ability of the patient to recover.

As part of the mobilisation process, the Doctors made him sit and also walk with the help of a walker under the watchful eye of the experts.

The Yashoda Hospitals released a health bulletin of KCR on Saturday evening. It reads:”Sri Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao garu is medically stable. He is pain free and has rested well through the day. He is being continuously assessed and monitored by the multi-disciplinary team of doctors.

As per standard international practice guidelines of early ambulation which prescribes that the patient be made to walk within 12 hours, Sri Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao garu was mobilized from the bed and was made to walk under the supervision of the operating Orthopaedic Surgeon and physiotherapy team. He has been given a schedule of exercises for his rehabilitation to aid speedy recovery.

The treating Doctors are satisfied with the progress of Sri Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao garu.”
