HYDERABAD: The police are enforcing a shutdown of all shops and business establishments in the Old City of Hyderabad from 8 pm on Wednesday as a precautionary measure to pre-empt any untoward incidents. The decision was taken in the wake of protests over the last two days at several parts of the Old City against the controversial remarks of BJP MLA from Goshamahal Raja Singh. The restrictions were being enforced in all the sensitive and problematic areas of south and east police zones. All the business establishments were ordered to close down by 8 pm.

In the wake of protests on Tuesday night, commercial establishments will be ordered to close between 9pm and 10pm for a few days, particularly in the Hyderabad Commissionerate's South Zone.

Traffic curbs in Old City

The Hyderabad traffic police have decided to divert general traffic as needed due to the current L&O crisis and continuous agitations in the South Zone/Old City.

General traffic from Puranapool Bridge and M.J. Bridge is not permitted to travel in the direction of the Old City, Malakpet, or LB Nagar. Nayapool Bridge, Shivaji Bridge, Chaderghat Causeway, MoosaramBagh Bridge, and other alternate routes would be used if necessary to redirect traffic.

The traffic heading from MJ Market towards Old City via Nayapool Bridge, MJ Bridge, and Puranapool Bridge should be diverted onto the 100-foot road, Jiyaguda, Ramsingpura, Attapur, Aramgarh, Mylardevpally, and Chandrayangutta.

Traffic from MJ Market to the Old City through Nayapool Bridge and Shivaji Bridge would be routed through Rangamahal, Chaderghat, Nimboliadda, Tourist Jn, Barkathpura, Fever Hospital, Vidyanagar, and Tarnaka.

Traffic heading to Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar, and LB Nagar from Abids, Koti, and Chaderghat Bridge, Chaderghat Cause Way, and Moosarambagh Bridge will be diverted via Nimboliadda, Tourist Jn, Barkathpura, Fever Hospital, Vidyanagar, Tarnaka, or 6 No. Jn., Ramanthapur.

Traffic from the Old City to Abids, Koti, MJ Market, and Lakdikapul will be diverted via Nayapool Bridge, MJ Bridge, and Puranapool Bridge, and commuters are advised to take an alternate route to Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally, Aramgarh, Attapur, Mehdipatnam, Masabtank, and Lakdikapul.

Traffic from Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar heading towards Abids, Koti, MJ Market via Moosarambagh, Chaderghat, and SJ Bridge side would take the Uppal, Tarnaka, Vidyanagar, Fever Hospital, and Barkathpura routes.

Ganesh idols travelling from Mangalhat/Goshamahal areas to Telangana's South Zone/other districts are urged to take the following routes:

Idols heading to the Old City will pass through 100 feet of road, Jiyaguda, Ramsingpura, Attapur, Aramgarh, Mailardervpally, and Chandrayangutta before arriving in the Old City.

Afzalgunj, CBS, Ragmahal, Chaderghat, Nimboliadda, Barkathpura, Fever Hospital, Vidyanagar, Tanaka, and Habsiguda will be passed by idols on their way to Uppal, Dilsukhnagar, and LB Nagar.
