HYDERABAD: A doctor couple fell prey to an attention-diversion crime after a thief stole 120 grams of gold jewellery and Rs 20,000 cash from their car in Hyderabad on Saturday night. The incident happened at Green Hills Colony under the Chaitanyapuri police station limits.

According to reports, the couple, Dr Pramod and Dr Spandana of Peerzadiguda, went to First Cry Shopping Mall in Green Hills Colony in their Bolero vehicle. Even as they were busy shopping inside the mall, a person wearing a black dress approached their driver Srinivas. The stranger diverted the attention of the driver by flinging a few currency notes near the vehicle. Even as the driver got down from the vehicle to collect the money, the thief stole a bag from inside the car and vanished in no time.

The couple later lodged a police complaint in which they mentioned that the bag contained 120 grams of gold jewellery and Rs 20,000 in cash.

The Chaitanyapuri police inspected the scene of offence and began their investigation using the footage from the nearby CCTV cameras. Full details of the theft are yet to be known.
