VIKARABAD: Students of a government school in Vikarabad district on Monday staged a dharna outside their school. Their protest was not against any lack of facilities but against the transfer of the headmaster they loved most. The unusual incident happened in Medipally Kalan village of Pudur mandal.

Khaja Moinuddin, the headmaster, served the school for the last 12 years before he was transferred recently. According to reports, when he assumed charge, there were a mere 129 students in the school. Now, the government school is regarded as on par with any private school and Khaja Moinuddin is largely credited with this remarkable transformation.

The headmaster left no stone unturned to transform it into an ideal school and ensured that there were no dropouts. And thanks to his relentless campaign, not even a single student from the village took admission in a private school. They all chose the government school.

The students, who grew fond of the headmaster, were upset when they learnt that he was transferred to another school as per government rules. The distressed students protested outside their school demanding the cancellation of Khaja Moinuddin’s transfer.

The students were seen holding placards saying ‘Povoddu Povoddu’ (Don’t Go), pleading with their headmaster to not leave their school. The students pouring out their emotions made for a heart-rending scene at the protest.
