YS Jagan rewards Rs 2.70 crore to medal winners of Asian Games-2023

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met Asian Games medal winners at his camp office in Tadepalli on Friday.

Chess player Koneru Humpy, cricketer B Anusha and athlete Yarraji Jyothi were among those who met YS Jagan. The Chief Minister congratulated them for bringing laurels to the State at international events.

YS Jagan said that the Andhra Pradesh Government was encouraging athletes who won medals in national and international events. Koneru Humpy, B Anusha and Yarraji Jyothi showcased their medals won by them in the 19th Asian Games held at Hangzhou in China to the Chief Minister. Athletes from AP won a total of 11 medals, which included five gold and six silver, in the recently concluded Asian Games.

As part of implementing the Sports Policy, the State Government sanctioned cash incentives for the Asian Games medal winners- Myneni Saketh Sai (Rs 20 lakh), Vennam Jyothi Surekha (Rs 90 lakh), Kidambi Srikanth (Rs 20 lakh), R Satwik Sai Raj (Rs 50 lakh), Yarraji Jyothi (Rs 20 lakh), Bommadevara Dhiraj (Rs 20 lakh), Koneru Humpy (Rs 20 lakh) and B Anusha (Rs 30 lakh).

Along with cash incentives, the State Government also released Rs 4.29 crore incentive dues to be paid to the players who achieved medals for the State earlier. Minister for Sports RK Roja, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) managing director HM Dhyan Chandra and other officials were also present.
