VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy assured leaders of the Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Samithi that the state government and the YSRCP would continue to oppose the privatisation of the Vizag Steel Plant. This assurance was given during a meeting on the 21st day of the Memantha Siddham bus yatra at Endada on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on concerns surrounding the proposed privatisation of the steel plant. CM Jagan emphasised that the YSRCP has consistently supported steel plant workers in their fight against privatisation. He mentioned that his party had sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposing solutions for the steel plant issue and had passed a resolution in the Assembly against its privatisation.

CM Jagan highlighted the YSRCP's commitment to seek a permanent allocation of iron ore mines, a move that would significantly benefit the Vizag Steel Plant. He added that the state government has been working tirelessly to revive the plant and is exerting pressure on the central government to address its needs.

He also criticised opposition parties for their inconsistent stance on the Vizag Steel Plant issue. "Those who have formed an alliance (TDP, JSP, and BJP) have abandoned their moral principles and values concerning the steel plant issue, thus revealing their true character," he said.

CM Jagan reiterated the state government's commitment to the workers of the Vizag Steel Plant, assuring them that both the YSRCP and the state government would continue to oppose privatisation and work toward the plant's viability and long-term success.
