Alert pilot of Sabari Express averts major mishap

GUNTUR: Sabari Express (17230), enroute Thiruvananthapuram from Hyderabad, narrowly escaped a major accident near Guntur on Monday evening.

The train, which was between Nallapadu and Guntur around 5 pm on Monday, was halted after its loco pilot spotted an iron rod on the train tracks. Thanks to the alert pilot, the express halted at the right time and a major accident was avoided. The train resumed its journey after railway staff removed the iron rod.

Reportedly, miscreants tied the iron rod to the tracks with an intention to cause harm. It was suspected that they planted the iron rod after railway personnel completed their patrolling in the area.
