Close shave for AP Minister Ramachandra Reddy, Mithun Reddy in Rayachoti mishap

RAYACHOTI: Andhra Pradesh Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and his son and Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy had a close shave on Monday when an unidentified car rammed into their convoy in Annamayya district. At least eight persons including some security personnel sustained injuries in the incident even as the two leaders reportedly escaped unhurt. The mishap occurred at the Chennamukkalapalli Ring Road in Rayachoti mandal.

According to reports, the oncoming vehicle rammed into Mithun Reddy’s car which was part of the minister’s convoy. Luckily, the young MP was not in his vehicle and instead he was travelling in his father’s car. Mithun Reddy’s personal assistant and security personnel reportedly sustained grievous injuries under the impact of the collision. They were shifted to Rayachoti Government Hospital for treatment.

Overspeeding on the part of the oncoming vehicle is said to have caused the accident. It came to light that the family members of Ramachandra Reddy and Mithun Reddy were also travelling in other vehicles of the convoy at that time. The incident is said to have happened when they were proceeding from Punganur to Veerabelli to take part in Kanuma celebrations as part of the Sankranthi festivities.

Everyone heaved a sigh of relief seeing the two leaders and their family members escape the accident without any injuries.
