PILERU: TDP national president and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday met his party leaders lodged in the Pileru sub-jail in Annamayya district. The leaders were arrested in connection with a case over the destruction of flexes.

Speaking to the media after meeting his partymen, Naidu slammed the YSRCP government in general and Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy in particular. He alleged that the actions of the YSRCP government were oppressive and reminiscent of a terrorist’s.

Alleging atrocities of the YSRCP government and the police on the opposition parties, Naidu said that the police had created panic among the TDP cadre by manhandling and filing false cases against eight members. The TDP chief said that he would not leave anyone who was resorting to atrocities against the TDP leaders.

Naidu also claimed that YSRCP MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju and common people like Abdul Salam from Nandyal, 21-year-old Pathan Riyaz Khan, were badly treated by the police. He accused the YSRCP government of suppressing the minorities' voices in the state by foisting false cases and putting them in jails.

Responding to the tense atmosphere in Pileru before his visit, Naidu questioned whether he created any problems during YS Jagan's padayatra and said that it was not a good tradition.

Chandrababu Naidu also took out Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy for his attack, alleging the senior YSRCP leader’s role in the jailing of the minority youths. He said that Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy ensured that the families of those in jail were able to celebrate Sankranthi this year. Further, Naidu asserted that the minister would face the ire of the people and would be taught a befitting lesson.
