VISAKHAPATNAM: Unidentified miscreants in Wednesday pelted stones on coaches of yet to be launched Vande Bharat train at Ramamurthy Panthulu Peta gate near Kancharapalem of Visakhapatnam. Glass windows of two coaches suffered damage in the incident.

The Version II Vande Bharat train, which was scheduled to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Secunderabad Railway Station, will be operated between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam. The train was brought from Chennai to Visakhapatnam on Wednesday to carry out maintenance and trial run and the incident reportedly happened while it was being shifted to Marripalem.

Waltair Division DRM Anup Satpati, who confirmed the attack on the train, has ordered an in-depth inquiry into the incident.

It is not clear as to who carried out the attack on the brand-new train and what was the motive behind it.

As Modi's visit was already postponed, it remains to be seen whether the Prime Minister will launch the train virtually on the same day or it will be rescheduled to another date.
