Tirumala hundi grosses record Rs 7.68 cr on Vykuntha Ekadasi

TIRUMALA: As many as 69,414 devotees visited Tirumala on the first day of Vykuntha Ekadasi on Monday, resulting in a whopping collection of Rs 7.68 crores on a single day.
Even as Vykuntha Ekadasi fervour gripped the two Telugu states, devotees from all across the country flocked to Tirumala for a darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy through the Vykuntha Dwaram on Monday. The devotees believe that taking the darshan through Vykuntha Dwaram will give them the entry to heaven.
The Rs 7.68-crore collection on Monday is the highest gross amount received in a single day by the TTD. The previous best was Rs 6.28 crore on July 27, 2018, and Rs 6.31 crore on October 23, 2021.
It is known that with the outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020, the Tirumala temple was shut for about 83 days which resulted in a drastic fall in the Tirumala hundi collections. However, the monetary offerings increased moderately with the government removing the restrictions partially. It picked up momentum with the steady increase of devotees following the complete withdrawal of the COVID-19 restrictions.
The TTD has been receiving a gross income of Rs 6 crores approximately per day for the last year and on the occasion of auspicious Vykuntha Ekadasi on January 2, the Tirumala net hundi collection was recorded at Rs 7.68 crores.
