AMARAVATI: A woman attempted suicide by slitting her hand with a knife near the camp office of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister in Tadepalli on Wednesday. She resorted to the extreme step, alleging that a police constable was harassing her and preventing her from selling her house for the treatment of her ailing daughter.

Arudra from Gollagudem in Amalapuram, who came here to express her grievance in the Spandana programme, complained that police did not do justice to her despite her repeated requests. Alleging that police constable Kannaiah was harassing her, she attempted suicide.

It is learnt that constable Kannaiah had worked as one of the gunmen of Minister Dadisetty Raja. However, after coming to know about the controversy, the minister removed him from his security duty.
