AMARAVATHI: The YSR Congress Party seems to have started the exercise to fill up all the 21 MLC posts, including seven from MLA quota, and nine local bodies quotas which will become vacant by May 1, 2023. The YSRCP party is confident about grabbing MLA quota MLCs and started efforts to grab all the seats under the local body quota.

As part of the exercise, the party is likely to fill the seats considering the caste equations and adjustments in the constituencies where group politics are at their peak. Going by the probabilities, Devineni Avinash from Vijayawada East, Thota Trimurthulu from Mandapet, Amanchi Krishnamohan from Parchuru were appointed as in charge of the respective constituencies, Boppana Bhava Kumar, Pattabhiramaiah Choudhary, and Ravi Ramanatham Babu were assured of nominated posts and have been the front-runners for the MLC posts.

On the other hand, Marri Rajasekhar, Meka Seshubabu, Narthu Rama Rao, Junke Venkata Reddy, and others of the same constituencies are among the list of aspirants.

According to the sources, among the five YSRCP MLCs, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, Pothula Sunitha, Gangula Prabhakar Reddy, Suryanarayana Raju and late Challa Bhagiratha Reddy whose tenure will end on March 9, Pothula Sunitha and Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad most likely to be retained while Suryanarayana Raju from Vizianagaram will have to forgo the renewal as Raghuraju from same district belonging to the same community is serving as MLC and Gangula Prabhakar Reddy also have less chances as late Challa Bhagiratha Reddy's wife Challa Srilakshmi from Nandyal, who met the Chief Minister, recently reportedly got an assurance.

While coming to the two other MLC posts under MLA quota, which would be falling vacant, as the tenure of TDP's Bachula Arjunudu and Nara Lokesh would end on March 29, the YSRCP is looking to accommodate one with Yarlagadda Venkatarao or Dutta Ramachandra Rao from Krishna district to make adjustments in the Gannavaram constituency as MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi was appointed as YSRCP coordinator.
