NEW DELHI: In yet another twist to the tale, YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy was once again nominated to the panel of Rajya Sabha vice-chairpersons on Monday. The senior leader received communication to this effect from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.

Incidentally, Vijayasai Reddy and former Indian athlete legendary P T Usha are the two additions to the earlier list of panel vice-chairpersons, announced by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar on December 7. It was widely reported in the media on December 6 that Vijayasai Reddy was nominated to the panel of vice-chairperson. The leader himself tweeted thanking the Vice-President for his elevation.

But within 24 hours of Vijayasai Reddy expressing his gratitude, his name went missing from the final list announced by Dhankar on December 7. This sparked speculation that the relations of the senior YSRCP leader with the Centre were going on a downward spiral. However, YSRCP MP proved all his critics wrong by ensuring his renomination to the same vice-chairperson panel in the space of two weeks.

Confirming the latest development, Vijayasai Reddy tweeted on Tuesday by thanking Jagdeep Dhankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his nomination to the panel. He vowed to do his best in running the Upper House peacefully and meaningfully. The MP also tagged the communication received from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat in confirmation of his elevation.

More than his nomination to the elite panel, the subsequent omission of his name from the earlier list became a talking point among the political circles in the two Telugu states. Even as the Rajya Sabha's move left everyone guessing, YSRCP rebel MP from Narsapuram Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju tried to fish in the troubled waters by coming up with his own version on this. He claimed that Vijayasai Reddy was punished for his uncourteous behaviour, especially through his social media posts.

It was rumoured then that the rebel Lok Sabha Member of the YSRCP had forwarded a heap of Vijayasai Reddy's tweets translated into English to the Vice-President, forcing the latter to exclude the ruling party member from the panel.
