35 pilgrims from AP stranded at Yamunotri following landslide

ONGOLE: As many as 35 pilgrims, hailing from Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, are reportedly stranded for three days in Uttarakhand following a landslide near the hilly Yamunotri Locanda. According to information, a group of pilgrims belonging to Chirala, Inkollu and Addanki went on a tour of popular pilgrim destination Yamunotri.
The contingent went two kilometres beyond Yamunotri at 4 pm on Tuesday when they were stranded on the ghat road due to a landslide which snapped the road link. Vehicular traffic came to a complete halt on both sides of the road. The tourists from Andhra Pradesh are worried as there were no signs of rescue operations to be taken up by the local authorities. With nowhere to go, the pilgrims have reportedly been starving since Tuesday with no food available to eat.
Gopu Ramachandra Rao, a resident of Chirala, urged government authorities over phone to take measures and help them immediately.
The pilgrims had reached Barkoti through Yamunotri of Uttarakhand and Dekhi three days ago. Children, women, old people and other pilgrims were concerned as the phone numbers given by the government officials were also not working.
