AMARAVATI: The interim report of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly House Committee, constituted under the chairmanship of Bhumana Karunakar Reddy to probe into the data theft that allegedly happened during the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government, was tabled in the House on Tuesday.

Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who briefed the House about the findings of the interim report, said that the preliminary investigation carried out by the panel had concluded that data theft had happened during the previous government's tenure. Citing the report, he alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to delete 30 lakh votes using the Seva Mitra app promoted by the TDP.

Stating that the committee had four sittings and gathered the information from various sources, the Tirupati MLA confirmed that the TDP government had started the process of scrapping the votes through the Seva Mitra app between 2017 and 2019 by misusing private information and compromising data privacy regulations.

He said that an attempt was made to steal the data of non-voters from the State Data Center through the Seva Mitra app. However, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy asserted that there was a need for an in-depth inquiry into the matter.
