Driver's murder case: AP HC denies bail to YSRCP MLC Anantha Babu

KAKINADA: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday denied bail to YSRCP MLC Anantha Babu who was allegedly involved in the murder of a Dalit youth in Kakinada. The legislator was arrested by the police on May 23 and has been in remand at the Rajamahendravaram jail since then.

Earlier, the Rajahmundry District Court rejected his bail plea three times. Anantha Babu also faced a setback from the Rajahmundry SC and ST Court which dismissed his petition seeking mandatory bail citing that the police did not file the chargesheet within 90 days of remanding the accused.

After the SC and ST Court rejected bail to him, the High Court also dismissed a petition filed by the accused for default bail. In this petition, the MLC claimed that the police did not file the chargesheet within the stipulated time.

A hearing was held earlier on the regular bail petition. The High Court, which continued the hearing on Wednesday, refused to grant bail to the accused.
