More reforms to make education in AP as the best in country: Jagan

On the occasion of Teacher's Day, Y S Jagan extended his warm greetings to all the teachers across the state

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh is moving towards bringing in reforms to provide quality education that will be regarded as the best in the country, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has said. Speaking at the Teachers' Day (Guru Pujotsavam) function held on Monday, the Chief Minister said, "the government has been giving top priority to the education sector and the various reforms ushered are to fully prepare the students to face the competitive world," he added.

On Teacher's Day, Y S Jagan extended his warm greetings to all the teachers across the state and paying homepage to Sarvepalli Radhakrishna, former President and a teacher, the chief minister said, "the reforms implemented are not aimed at troubling teachers but our commitment to give prominence to the public sector, unlike the previous government which has neglected the government schools." Referring to the various schemes launched by the Jagan government he said, "During the past three years, we have spent over Rs 53,000 crores under various schemes that are aimed at placing our state ahead among the 28 states in terms of quality of education."

The Jagan government had also increased the retirement age to 62. "Promotions of teachers, and the pension issue which has not been resolved since long was long being taken up to sincerely by the government, said the chief minister. Criticising the opposition, Jagan said, "the opposition has weakened all public sector units in education, medical and transport sector but our government has reversed the trend."

Driving home the significance that his government is attaching to the education sector, he said that most of the reviews he had undertaken so far as the Chief Minister only pertained to the education department. "Our Government is moving forward to bring in more reforms with schemes like -- Nadu Nedu, Jagananna Goru Muddha, English medium, Vidya Kanuka, CBSE, subject teachers Byjus pack, tabs to eight class students, digital classrooms, upgrading teachers' skills, Vidya Deevena, Vasati Deevena, etc., in the education sector to provide quality education that will be regarded as the best in the country," Jagan asserted. Later, chief minister also presented best teachers' awards to teachers' across the state.
