VIZIANAGARAM: Wild animals like tigers and elephants frequently straying into human habitations are giving sleepless nights to the people of combined Vizianagaram district. The villagers complain that the wild animals enter their villages and attack their cattle, affecting their livelihood.

On Wednesday night, a tiger entered their village and killed a cow nearHarijan Paltheru of Badangi Mandal, said the locals. Though the officials were informed, there was no action from them, villagers lamented. The people residing in these Mandals complain of sleepless nights and request the forest officials to take immediate action.

Reportedly, forest officials of Vizianagaram stumbled on a video of tigers frequenting and freely moving around in Merakamudidam mandal. The residents accused the officials of handing over the video to the Wildlife Institute in Dehradun without releasing it to the public.
