ONGOLE: Two men gang-raped a married woman after hitting her two-wheeler with a bike in the suburbs of Ongole town in Prakasam district. According to police, the woman who sells vegetables on a two-wheeler was returning home in the night at 10.30 on Tuesday after completing her duties. She was chased by two drunk men on a bike and raped her taking her into the nearby bushes after hitting the two-wheeler.

As the woman did not reach home that night, the worried family members who carried out search operations found the victim in nearby bushes. Upon learning what had happened, the family members tried to catch the culprits as they found them at a petrol bunk on Kothapatnam road. However, the accused escaped. Later, they filed a complaint with the police the next day.

The police registered a case and took the victim to hospital for medical examination. The police who conducted the investigation found that two youths who were working as watchmen at the fish ponds near Koppolu were the accused who resorted to the crime.
