HYDERABAD: Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam is currently busy with the post-release promotions of his recent film Ponniyin Selvan. The film has become a very big hit at the box office. Though the critics and movie lovers gave average reviews, the film is performing well at the box office. The film approximately grossed over 150 Cr rupees at the box office worldwide in two days.
Not just in Tamilnadu, but the film is doing well in the USA. The Tamil film created a new record by minting over one million dollar rupees gross at the USA box office for consecutively for three days.
The film competed with Vikram Vedha across the nation, but the Hindi multistarrer failed to give a fight. Ponniyin Selvan was released in Telugu with the same title. The movie is not drawing good attention, and the word of mouth is also not so encouraging.
Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Lal, and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others who played the lead roles in the film. AR Rahman scored the music for the film's soundtrack.
