HYDERABAD: Mani Ratnam's dream project Ponniyin Selvan has hit the screens last Friday. This period-epic features Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi and Karthi in the lead roles. It is having a dream run at the box office in both domestic and international circuits.
Especially, PS-I is setting the box office on fire in the USA. According to the trade reports, it has collected more than $4 million in its first weekend.
With this feat, PS-I became the biggest Tamil blockbuster in the USA. It is the fourth highest grosser among South Indian films in the United States.
Baahubali 2, RRR and KGF 2 are the top-3 biggest grossers in the USA among South Indian flicks. Going by its run, it is predicted that PS-I will collect more than $6 million in America. That will be a huge achievement for sure.
Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled jointly by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. AR Rahman composed the music for this film.
