USA Box Office: Dhamaka and 18 Pages off to a dull start

HYDERABAD: The last big releases of Tollywood in 2022 are Ravi Teja's Dhamaka and Nikhil Siddhartha's 18 Pages. Both films had a grand release yesterday. Though they got good openings in the domestic market, these flicks couldn't get a flying start in the USA. The opening collections of these movies were disappointing in the overseas market.
Dhamaka is a commercial entertainer which has all typical Ravi Teja elements. This kind of content will not appeal to an overseas audience. Unless the talk is exceptionally good or it features a 'big' star hero, overseas audiences will not go to the theatres to watch commercial films. We hear that it collected $19745 through Thursday premieres and Friday shows till 03:00 pm PST. Dhamaka was released in 96 locations.
On the flip side, 18 Pages also failed to get a big opening. The success of Karthikeya 2 didn't help Nikhil in pulling the crowd to theatres. The makers are now depending entirely on the word of mouth, which is pretty decent. In 195 locations it released in the USA, 18 Pages managed to earn $21852 (till Friday 03:00 pm PST).
The storm of Avatar 2 is also affecting these movies at the overseas box office. Let's see how they manage to survive in the coming days.
