14 arrested for violence over a piece of land in Mamidipally
The police claim that the two groups indulged in rioting and arson on Tuesday over a disputed land in Mamidipally.
HYDERABAD: The Rachakonda police on Wednesday arrested 14 persons in connection with a case of violence (rioting and arson) that happened on Tuesday. The incident took place at Mamidipally under the Pahadishareef Police Station limits over a piece of land between two groups – the villagers and one Dr Vinay.
The police claim that the two groups indulged in rioting and arson on Tuesday over a disputed land in Mamidipally. According to a press note from the Rachakonda police, Dr Vinay hired goons from different areas of Hyderabad's old city to incite arson and stone-pelting.
The Pahadishareef Police responded swiftly and sent out enough personnel to bring the situation under control by arresting the troublemakers. The hired goons were apprehended after an investigation and produced in the court for judicial remand.
Efforts are on to arrest Dr Vinay and Punjala Shashwath who are currently absconding. Rachakonda police have urged the residents of Mamidipally to assist them in maintaining law and order. Anyone seen engaging in illegal activity will face harsh legal consequences, they warned.
