1kg gold, Rs 21 lakhs cash robbed in Narasaraopet forest heist

PRAKASAM DISTRICT: In a case of forest heist, a gang of dacoits waylaid a car and robbed the inmates of their valuables including one kg gold and Rs 21 lakhs in cash in Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Sunday. After forcing the inmates out, the culprits fled in the same car in the incident that happened in the forest area near Diguvametta of Giddalur mandal in Prakasam district.

It was not immediately clear if the stolen gold was in the form of jewellery. The details of the victims travelling in the car were also not immediately known.

They were however said to be proceeding towards Narasaraopet from Nandyal when they were ambushed by the dacoits. Significantly, the crime scene was located about six km from the Narasaraopet checkpost.

The police, on receiving the information, reached the site immediately. A case has been registered even as the police launched a manhunt for the robbers gang involved in the crime.
