KAKINADA: In a ghastly road accident on Dharmavaram national highway, two drivers and a cleaner were charred to death in a fire that was sparked following a head-on collision between two lorries on Friday. The incident took place near a petrol station in Prathipadu Mandal of Kakinada district.

One of the ill-fated lorries, carrying a sand load, was travelling to Visakhapatnam from Erravaram. The driver reportedly lost control and ran into another lorry coming in the opposite direction.

Under the impact of the collision, fire broke out in the cabins of the lorries. The three victims, trapped in the mangled mass of metal, were burnt alive. The fire department immediately reached the accident site and doused the fire.
