HYDERABAD: The Rachakonda police on Monday arrested four persons part of a five-member robbery gang that waylaid MRR Wines owner in Autonagar and decamped with Rs 25 lakhs. Cash to the tune of Rs 18 lakhs along with a Mercedes Benz car, one Yamaha Fascino bike and five mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

According to the Rachakonda police, Abdul Mohammed, the mastermind behind the robbery, was acquainted with one of the relatives of Venkat Reddy, the owner of MRR wines. Mohammed took hand loans to the tune of Rs 50 lakhs on various occasions. On being compelled to repay the loans, the accused hatched a plot to rob the same amount that he would pay back to Venkat Reddy’s relative.

The robbery gang on January 6, 2023, stalked the relative after Mohammed repaid the loan amount. The gang waylaid the relative but were able to rob the victim of only Rs 25 lakhs as the public gathered around to thrash them.

Four of the accused – Abdul Mohammed Hameed (32), Omer Bin Hamza (30), Ali Bin Hamza (27) and Fahad Bin Abdul Rahman (42) – were arrested while another, Raheem Gori, is absconding.
