Case booked over fake call of KCR

HYDERABAD: A case has been filed in Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police Station (CCS) against unknown miscreants for creating a fake audio call of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The fake call was allegedly created by the opposition party in order to influence Munugode voters ahead of the Munugode by-election on November 3, 2022. The audio was also being circulated on various social media platforms, according to reports.

According to an unknown complainant, some unknown individuals imitated Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's voice while negotiating money distribution in the Munugode by-election.

In his complaint, the complainant claimed that the fake call could generate divisions among particular groups. The complaint has been lodged under Sections 469,505(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The case file has been handed over to Sub-inspector Y V Santa Rao for further investigation.
