Fake admissions racket: Rachakonda police arrest Haryana man

Based on a complaint registered in Meerpet in Hyderabad, the man defrauded the complainant to the tune of Rs 4.8 lakh

HYDERABAD: The sleuths of cyber crimes, Rcahakonda, arrested a man for cheating people in the name of providing admissions for PhD in reputed universities.

Reportedly, Mohamed Raffik Panchapuri belonging to Haryana, created a fake Facebook profile and texted random people, promising them admissions in reputed universities. He collected their documents, certificates and tricked them into paying lakhs of rupees as admission fee. He wanted to earn easy money after his wife left him due to his financial troubles.

Based on a complaint registered in Meerpet in Hyderabad, the man defrauded the complainant to the tune of Rs 4.8 lakh in the name of admission.

The police arrested the accused in Haryana and brought him back to Hyderabad for further investigation. They seized one mobile phone, two debit cards, one voter ID and Rs 3,000 cash from the accused.
