Harassed by loan app agents, couple ends life in Rajamahendravaram

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: A couple from Anand Nagar of Rajamahendravaram died by suicide, unable to bear the harassment of loan-app recovery agents, on Thursday.

Kolli Durga Rao (32) and his wife Lakshmi (28), who hailed from Labbarti village of Rajavommangi mandal, took a loan of Rs 50,000 through an online app for their needs. They were being harassed by loan app agents for not being able to pay the loan on time.

Reportedly, the recovery agents were threatening the couple of morphing their photos on nude pictures and posting them online.

Their family members said that Durga Rao called from Sai Krishna River View lodge in Rajamahendravaram and informed his brother about their intention of killing themselves.

The brother rushed to the lodge where he found the couple in an unconscious state. They were shifted to a hospital, where they died while undergoing treatment. Rajamahendravaram police registered a case and were investigating the incident.
