RAJENDRA NAGAR: A migrant worker was killed on the spot while his wife grievously was injured after being hit by an overspeeding lorry that swerved onto the footpath and went berserk in Rajendra Nagar on Monday. The mishap occurred at the Hyderguda junction falling under the Ranga Reddy district limits.
The couple was waiting on the footpath to board a bus when death came in the form of the monster truck. The driver of the lorry, in an attempt to overtake a TSRTC bus at high speed, lost control on the vehicle. The vehicle ran amok on the footpath and rammed into the couple, leaving the husband dead on the spot. The woman, who was grievously injured, was removed from under the lorry and shifted to a hospital by locals.
The police, after their preliminary investigation, felt that overspeeding of the lorry was the reason for the accident. The fatal accident stirred panic among the locals.
The couple, Rattaiah and Manjula, natives of Karnataka, migrated to Hyderabad in search of livelihood.
