VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam police registered a case against Saipriya (21), the woman who allegedly misled the police and caused a massive search operation on the RK Beach here last month.

On July 25, a complaint was lodged with the local police by Saipriya's father stating that his daughter was missing after visiting the RK Beach along with her husband. The police, who swung into action to locate Saipriya, also requisitioned helicopters from the Indian Navy to carry out the search operations. The Naval choppers made several sorties into the sea for the next 48 hours in search of Saipriya. The entire operation caused heavy expenditure due to the use of precious naval resources.

But to everyone's shock, the police later located Saipriya in Nellore district and found out that it was not a case of missing and the woman had allegedly deserted her husband to be with her lover.

The Visakhapatnam Three Town Police, in their case registered on Sunday against the woman stated that Saipriya had willfully deceived her husband and married another person and kept her legally-wedded husband in the dark about it. Both Saipriya and her lover Raviteja were booked under relevant sections for misleading the police and deceiving her husband.

On July 25, Saipriya went to the RK Beach along with her husband. According to the husband's account that time, Saipriya went near the water to wash her feet. Around the same time, he received a phone call and when he turned back a little later, Saipriya was missing, prompting her husband to assume that she was washed away by the waves of the sea.

As the police investigation revealed, Saipriya staged her missing as part of her plan to elope with her lover Ravi Teja. As per the case, Saipriya is charged with marrying another person even while in legal wedlock and for causing huge expenditure to the government and the Indian Navy due to the utilisation of their precious resources.
