HYDERABAD: In an early morning strike on Saturday, two bike-borne chain-snatchers targetted a 65-year-old woman and snatched away three gold chains from her at Sarvodaya colony under Meerpet police station limits. The incident happened at around 7:30 am when the woman, Venkata Ratnam, was on a morning walk.

The two miscreants, reported to be teenagers, came on a motorcycle and snatched away the three chains from the neck of the old woman in a flash. The three chains weigh approximately 11 tulas. They immediately sped away while flashing knives at locals to keep them at bay. Vanasthalipuram Assistant Commissioner of Police Purushottam Reddy, along with his crime team, rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene.

A case has been registered based on a complaint from the old woman at the police station. The police have been looking into the footage of nearby CCTV cameras for technical evidence and track down the chain-snatchers.
