HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old woman journalist of ETV network was killed and her colleague severely injured when a speeding car hit them while they were crossing the road in Hayathnagar on Saturday.

Nividhitha Suraj (27), and Sonali (26) were on their way to work when the incident occurred. The incident came to light on Tuesday after CCTV footage of it went viral on social media.

According to reports, Nividhitha Suraj of Kodiyur village in Kerala's Thrissur district and Sonali of Uttar Pradesh work as content writers for ETV Bharat News Channel.

The incident occurred on the Vijayawada highway at Bhagyalatha Kaman in Hayathnagar when the two of them left for work together at around 5.20 am on Saturday.

Locals, who witnessed the accident, called the 108 ambulance. Nividhitha died while being taken to a hospital in the ambulance. Sonali is being treated at Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar for grievous injuries she suffered in the mishap. According to the police, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
